WHY SUPPORT THIS PROJECT?

Unconventional filmmaking requires unconventional support.  Been Here Stay Here isn’t your typical climate documentary—it’s a deeply human, deeply hopeful act of bridge-building. At its core, this project is about reaching across one of the deepest divides in our country and inviting faith-based communities into the conversation about the climate crisis in a way that feels personal, relatable, and respectful.

For decades, climate change has been framed as an “us vs. them” issue, splitting people into camps and creating even deeper divides. But this film is about breaking through all that noise. It’s about reminding us that, at the end of the day, we all want the same things: to protect what we love, to leave something better for the next generation, and to care for this planet we share. The only way to tackle this crisis is together.

We’re not chasing mainstream awards or conventional measures of success. We’re taking a leap of faith—literally and figuratively—to try something different, something bold. This film was created with a very specific mission: to connect with people in churches, community centers, and schools across the country, places that aren’t always part of the climate conversation. That’s where we believe real change can happen, and that’s why we need your support

WHERE WILL THE FUNDS GO?

We’ve made it this far—our World Premiere at IDFA was a tremendous success, and now we’re building momentum with upcoming screenings at the DC Environmental Film Festival and the Annapolis Film Festival in March, with many more festivals on the horizon. The film is finished, and now the real work begins. We need to cover the remaining post-production costs and raise support for festival submissions, marketing, and most importantly, our impact campaign.

To bring this vision to life, we plan to hire an impact producer who will help us bring the film to new audiences and deepen the dialogue with Christian climate organizations across the country. This is a project that’s about more than a film—it’s about creating connection, building bridges, and expanding the ways we think about climate action.

YOUR DONATIONS ARE TAX-DEDUCTIBLE

All of your contributions will be channeled through our fiscal sponsor, the Maysles Documentary Center. They’re an incredible organization dedicated to fostering community and creativity through documentary film—something so beautifully aligned with the heart of this project. 5% of the proceeds will go toward supporting their work and covering the administrative costs of managing this process. The rest will go directly to supporting Been Here Stay Here—helping us bring the film to life and out into the world, where it can spark the conversations it’s meant to inspire.
